This photo has lovely bokeh--out-of-focus background shapes and colors. That is due to using a very large apearture--low f stop number (1.8). But, that also makes it difficult to focus as the area that is in focus is very narrow. You might try opening up one or two stops on the aperture and experiment a bit. The goal is to achieve a balance between sharp focus on your main subject, and out of focus of the background.
